The Alumni Association of the Asian Institute of Management (AAAIM) has established its presence in Burgos, Siargao through its Ahon Siargao Strategic Assistance Program (ASAP). The AAAIM came in after Typhoon Odette wreaked havoc on the island, and left the sixth-class municipality of Burgos with eight devastated daycare centers, and around 250 preschoolers with no learning centers to go to. Considered as ground zero of the typhoon, Burgos was hard-hit. Getting back on its feet has been and continues to be a challenge.
Tanglaw ni Teresa became involved with the AAAIM through Theresian AIM alumnae. Teresa's Light Coratec Jimenez and Program Director of the ASAP, presented to TnT their planned activities in Burgos, and how they were looking for partners to initially take on the tremendous task of renovating the eight daycare centers.
The call to adopt-a-daycare was then taken on by TnT. A partnership was forged with AAAIM because we believe in their efforts to uplift the lives of Burgos children.
As TnT's initial pilot project, we committed to adopt the Pugtac Daycare Center and help its 20 daycare preschoolers.
TnT saw the opportunity to create a long-lasting impact in the lives of the children of Burgos, by employing Kalinga ni Teresa, TNT’s holistic approach in the areas of health, nutrition, and education.
TnT is a partner together with Zuellig Family Foundation, Rex Publishing, Assisi Foundation, Maryknollers Batch '71, the Municipality of Burgos, among others. Each Organization aims to contribute to the total rehabilitation of daycare centers for the benefit of its students, along with the capacity building and training for teachers, daycare workers, and LGU personnel.
